In surgery, friction during bone drilling, when the same drill is used, can lead to a significant increase in heat, which is harmful to the bone.
A research program was launched on this subject and seventy-two tests were carried out on bovine bones to assess the impact of this heating on the bone. The sensors supplied by MESUREX (ultra-miniature Ø0.5mm, T-type thermocouples - see the product) have enabled us to accurately measure the implications in terms of drilling time and drilling force.
