Mesurex offers a wide range of force transducers as required : in compression, in tension, in miniature version or for heavy loads (up to 100 t), and, of course, customizable to suit the specific application.
For choosing the right load cell, various factors need to be considered:
- L’weighing environment (indoor or outdoor location, weather conditions (temperature, humidity, wind, seismic activity, etc.), exposure to dust, washing of the sensor (frequency, duration, type of product, washing methods, etc.).
- Visit weighing factors (characteristics of the structure to be weighed (maximum load, risk of shock/vibration, overloading on one side, etc.) and operation of the structure (dynamic loading/unloading, etc.).
Force transducers - also known as load cells or force transducers - provide essential information on the mechanical stresses experienced by objects or structures. Validating and understanding these stresses leads to a better improving design / manufacturing / operating processes, and a optimization results in terms of quality and safety.
Here are a few examples of applications requiring the use of force transducers:
- General industry (silo weighing)
- Automotive industry (crash test)
- Robotics (adjusting the force of robots to improve their precision and safety)
- Manufacturing industry (monitoring forces exerted by machines, to maintain quality and prevent failures)
- Medical (to enable users with prostheses to control their grip strength)
- Wind power and photovoltaics (verification of foundation resistance to meteorological events)
- Scientific research (force measurement in biomechanical studies, materials evaluation, aerospace, etc.)
This expertise in custom load cell manufacturing has benefited a major player in the nuclear energy sector. Mesurex produced a silo compression weighing system (model FO50T-SILO). This complete system comprises 3 load cells, 50t each, with a working load limit of 150% and a breaking load of 300% (IP68, Ø164mm), each connected via 10-meter cable to a junction box. The junction box can be used not only to read values, but also to connect hardware to retrieve, store and/or print time-stamped data. Analog output is available (0-20mA, 4-20mA, 0-5V, -10V...) to connect additional accessories (alarm, shut-off valve, safety device...).
