This SE49 series sensor is mounted on a friction pad, and can be used to measure the surface temperature of a brake disc with a bronze shoe. Equipped with a very thin type K thermocouple for high reactivity, this sensor is characterized by its short response time, ease of installation, robustness and competitive cost.
The SE49 is mounted on its bracket using a fixing screw (⌀5 mm), then an adjustment screw is used to set the contact hardness.
This friction thermocouple is widely used in the automotive and railway industries, but also in the braking system of wind turbines, with a much longer spring length (see photos in the slideshow), or in the brake drums of elevators and cranes.
Probes are calibrated in our metrology laboratory up to 1200°C.
